A way magicians use to make both objects and people disappear on stage is to put a mirror between the audience and the thing they want to disappear.
If you were made to disappear this way then your light is blocked by the back of the mirror so never gets to the audience’s eyes. They instead see the light from somewhere else that bounces off the mirror.
Problem
The mirror needs to be at an angle, so the person sees what is at the side (not themselves!). To fool them, the scene at the side must be what they expect to see in front of them. That is difficult to do!
Invisibility in a box
This works really well if the thing you want to disappear is in a box or enclosed space. If the side of the box is the same as the back, then it is easy to fool people.
