Throughout the centuries people have been creating and cracking secret codes. In doing so they have been doing computing – centuries before the first electronic computers were invented.
In fact the first electronic computers were invented by the British trying to crack the German codes in World War II.
Now having codes that are hard to crack matters in every day life. Our bank system relies on it as does online business. Keeping our email and other online accounts private also relies on it.
Message that matters: the side that’s best at computing wins the war
